TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily, announced Tuesday that they are expecting their second child, a baby boy, due in April 2026.
The couple shared the news on Instagram with a gender reveal photoshoot, slicing a cake decorated with blue icing to reveal the future addition to their family. Their daughter, Kova Jade, born in April 2024, will soon become a big sister.
Family Grows: Big Sister Kova Jade
Photos shared by the couple show Kova Jade wearing a “Big Sis” sweatshirt while holding an ultrasound image of her little brother. Baker and Emily appeared thrilled, holding the cake and reacting to the gender reveal with smiles and excitement.
“New addition coming April 2026, and we couldn’t feel luckier 💙,” the couple wrote on Instagram.
Emily revealed in her Instagram stories that she is currently 16.5 weeks pregnant. The couple has not yet decided on a name for their son but said they are open to suggestions from friends and family.
How Baker and Emily Met
Baker and Emily first met in 2017 through a mutual friend. According to the couple, Emily initially did not give Baker her phone number. Baker attempted to connect with her via Instagram, repeatedly following and messaging her before Emily eventually agreed. Six months after their first date, the couple got engaged, marrying in July 2019.
Emily said of their early dating days: “We had lunch and the entire time he was asking questions about me [and] about my family. It was not the Baker show.”
Baker admitted that he isn’t “specialty in dirty diapers,” hinting that parenting duties may be doubled with a second child on the way.
NFL Family Celebrates
The Mayfields’ announcement drew warm congratulations from fans, fellow NFL players, and the Buccaneers organization. The team commented on Instagram: “Baby Bake OTW!” Other members of the NFL community joined in celebrating the family news.
The Mayfields now look forward to welcoming a baby boy into their family, marking another milestone in the quarterback’s personal life.
