According to New York police, the shooting took place just after 2 a.m. outside Sei Less, a well-known Asian fusion restaurant on West 38th Street, located between Madison Square Garden and Times Square. Officers responded to a 911 call and found the 29-year-old cornerback suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Authorities said the shooter fled the scene on foot, and no arrests have been made. Surveillance images of a man sought in connection with the attack were released Monday as investigators continue searching for the suspect. A motive is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest the shooting may have stemmed from an altercation, and a possible attempted jewelry theft has not been ruled out.
Boyd Shares Emotional Update From Hospital
On Wednesday, Boyd broke his silence with a message to supporters. Posting a photo of himself in a hospital bed, he wrote:
“God is real, God is powerful! … I’m coming along, starting to breathe on my own now. Just grateful!”
A bullet reportedly became lodged in his right lung, and the NFL player underwent multiple surgeries. Despite the seriousness of his injuries, doctors have upgraded him to stable condition.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn said he recently spoke with Boyd and was relieved to hear the cornerback sounding “upbeat.” Glenn added that Boyd’s wife and newborn baby have remained by his side throughout the ordeal.
Team Reaction and Boyd’s Season Status
A Jets spokesperson said the organization is “aware of the situation” but declined further comment. Boyd has been on season-ending injured reserve since August after shoulder surgery but remained active around the team.
