GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — Iconic U.S. fast-food chain Wendy’s is officially entering the Guyanese market, with plans to open its first restaurant in August 2025 on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown.
According to a recent announcement, the move follows a franchise agreement with WenKai Inc, a fully Guyanese-owned company aiming to reshape the local dining scene by bringing world-class food brands, innovative services, and more to the region.
Specifically, the debut restaurant will offer a modern experience—including drive-thru, dine-in seating, delivery services, etc.—and feature Wendy’s signature menu: square hamburgers, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, chicken nuggets, bone-in chicken, the iconic Frosty dessert, and more.
Wendy’s Expansion Plan in Guyana & Beyond
Furthermore, WenKai Inc. plans to open three Wendy’s locations in Guyana by the end of 2025, and additionally, it has more restaurants lined up for Suriname, marking a bold regional expansion across northern South America and beyond.
“This is a proud moment,” said Iman Khan-Cummings, Founder of WenKai. “We’ve long admired Wendy’s for its commitment to quality, innovation, hospitality, etc. Therefore, bringing this beloved brand to our home is incredibly exciting.”
Moreover, Wendy’s entry into Guyana aligns with the company’s global growth strategy, which prioritizes the Latin American and Caribbean region, among other high-potential markets.
