Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine says four armed men stormed his Florida home on Sunday night while he was away livestreaming in Miami with influencer Jack Doherty. The intruders reportedly held his 60-year-old mother at gunpoint, ransacked the residence, and demanded cash and car keys before escaping.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it responded to an active home invasion robbery at the rapper’s Wellington home just before 10 p.m.
What happened on Sunday night?
Tekashi, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, explained the situation to fans in a video on social media. He stressed that he remains on house arrest, but had received temporary approval to leave for work so he could film content with Doherty.
“Yesterday, they allowed me to leave for work… People saw that I was on livestream with Jack Doherty in Miami and they took that opportunity,” he said.
“My mom is 60 years old. Y’all know I’m supposed to be home…I’m on house arrest. So y’all take the opportunity that I’m not home and do that. That’s pssy sht.”
While Tekashi streamed from Miami, the masked intruders entered the property with handguns. Deputies say the suspects physically restrained his mother outside while the others rifled through rooms searching for valuables.
What police discovered
Deputies searched the home with K-9 units but did not find the suspects. Investigators believe the gunmen fled in a vehicle moments before officers arrived. Inside the home, witnesses told deputies the men threatened Tekashi’s mother while demanding money and car keys.
TMZ later published harrowing footage showing hooded figures escorting his mother outside the home at gunpoint.
PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera confirmed the details in a statement, calling the invasion a targeted robbery.
Why Tekashi was away from home
The rapper is currently serving a period of supervised release, which requires strict monitoring. However, he is occasionally granted permission to leave for work-related activities.
During the break-in, he was on camera with Doherty — a streamer who made headlines over the weekend after Miami Beach Commissioner Joe Magazine publicly criticized him for unrelated behavior that led to his arrest.
Tekashi said the intruders clearly watched the livestream and realized he wasn’t home.
Legal trouble continues
The home invasion happened just days before 6ix9ine is expected in court for a sentencing hearing tied to a violation of his supervised release. He faces three to nine months in prison.
His attorney, Lance Lazzaro, argued that incarceration would be unusually harsh due to Tekashi’s required isolation from other inmates.
“He always serves his jail time segregated and fully isolated,” Lazzaro wrote in a letter to the court. “He receives extremely limited social interaction and very little time outside.”
A pattern of turmoil
Tekashi’s career has long been overshadowed by controversy — from his 2015 guilty plea in a child performance case to his racketeering charges as part of the Nine Trey Bloods. Even in Florida, he has faced legal trouble for allegedly driving 136 mph in his Lamborghini SUV last year.
Despite the chaos, he told fans he simply wants his mother safe and his home secure.
Police have not announced any arrests, and detectives are still searching for the four suspects.
