CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders had his first NFL appearance overshadowed by a serious crime on Sunday, after burglars broke into his Medina County home and stole almost $200,000 worth of property, according to police.
The break-in happened while Sanders was on the field facing the Baltimore Ravens. He entered the game in the second half after starter Dillon Gabriel was placed in concussion protocol.
Burglars Spent Only 12 Minutes Inside
The Medina County Sheriff’s Office said three masked suspects entered Sanders’ home at 6:46 p.m.
They were captured on interior surveillance cameras moving through multiple rooms.
All were wearing masks and gloves, making identification difficult.
The suspects left at 6:58 p.m., carrying valuables belonging to the rookie quarterback. The investigation is still ongoing.
Debut Moment Turns Into a Tough Night
Sanders was unaware of the break-in as he took his first NFL snaps.
He finished the game completing 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards, throwing one interception and taking two sacks during the Browns’ 23-16 loss to Baltimore.
What should have been a memorable moment quickly became a stressful end to his day when he learned what happened at home.
