Oakley Meta Vanguard AI glassescred: Meta/Oakley

BUSINESS & TECH — Oakley has teamed up with Meta to launch the Meta Vanguard, new AI-powered performance glasses. The companies call it the start of the “era of Athletic Intelligence.” Their goal is to help athletes train, record, and share like never before.

Built for action

The Meta Vanguard lets athletes capture hands-free video from their own perspective. The 12MP camera offers a 122° ultra-wide field of view and 3K UHD recording. Users can switch between hyperlapse and slow motion modes to highlight action moments.

Smarter video and stabilization

Video stabilization is fully adjustable. Athletes can set the strength themselves or let the glasses auto-select. In addition, autocapture works with Garmin devices, allowing workouts and footage to sync automatically.

Extended battery life

Oakley promises endurance. The Meta Vanguard delivers up to nine hours of battery life, long enough for intense training sessions or day-long events.

Privacy and accessibility

Privacy remains central to the design. A Capture LED light turns on when recording begins. If the light is blocked, the glasses send a warning. Accessibility also plays a role. Through the Meta AI app, users can activate spoken descriptions and connect to the Be My Eyes® volunteer network.

Meta AI ecosystem

The Meta AI app is the hub for control. Athletes can manage settings, share content, and adjust privacy preferences. The app also unlocks AI assistant tools and tips from other users, creating a growing community.

The next frontier in wearables

The Meta Vanguard targets serious athletes who want both performance and innovation. By combining Oakley’s sports design with Meta’s AI tools, the glasses set a new standard in the sports tech and wearable market.
