KINGSTON, Jamaica – The dancehall community is mourning the loss of rising artiste Lenky Roy, who died early Saturday morning, July 12, 2025, in a fatal car crash along the Linstead Bypass in St Catherine.
What happened?
Reports indicate that Lenky Roy was driving at high speed when he reportedly slammed into the back of another vehicle. The crash left the front of his vehicle extensively damaged. Eyewitnesses and circulating videos from the scene show the artiste in a black Lakers jersey, appearing unresponsive, with severe head injuries.
It is alleged that no seatbelts were worn, and the impact may have caused him to strike his head on the dashboard or windshield. A male passenger in the vehicle also appeared unconscious but was reportedly still breathing when first responders arrived.
Who was Lenky Roy?
Lenky Roy was best known for his dancehall singles “Little Miss Riding Hood,” “Set Me Free,” and “Ring Ding Ding.” He was building a loyal following in the underground dancehall scene, recognized for his energy, charisma, and catchy melodies.
Lenky leaves behind one known daughter. He was regarded by friends and fans as talented, humble, and full of potential. His loss is deeply felt by those close to him and the broader dancehall family.

Social media has since erupted with tributes, prayers, and condolences. Fans, fellow artistes, and DJs expressed shock and heartbreak over the sudden loss. Many also urged young drivers to wear seatbelts and drive cautiously to prevent future tragedies.
