Eurovision Returns in 2026
The Eurovision Song Contest, Europe’s largest music competition, returns in 2026 for its 70th edition. Vienna, Austria, will host the event at the Wiener Stadthalle. Semi-finals are scheduled for 12 and 14 May, with the grand final on 16 May. Fans can enjoy performances at the Eurovision Village at Rathausplatz and after-parties at Vienna City Hall.
Austria earned hosting rights after JJ won the 2025 contest with the song “Wasted Love”. This marks Austria’s third time hosting Eurovision. Vienna was chosen for its experience, venue size, and proximity to airports. Other Austrian cities, including Graz and Innsbruck, had submitted bids but withdrew.
Participating Countries and Withdrawals
So far, 32 countries have confirmed participation. Bulgaria, Moldova, and Romania return after recent absences. However, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain will skip the contest in protest of Israel’s inclusion.
