WASHINGTON, D.C. — Newly released Congressional documents mention billionaire Elon Musk in connection with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, though Musk has denied any association beyond brief, social encounters.
The records, released Friday by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, include flight logs, daily schedules, and other documents from Epstein’s estate. Musk’s name appears in a single line referencing a potential visit to Epstein’s private island, Little St. James, in December 2014.

Musk clarified that he had “never been close to Epstein” and only met him briefly in social settings. He emphasized that a mention in the documents does not imply wrongdoing or complicity, highlighting the risks of reputational damage from association alone.
Other Names in the Files
The documents also reference Prince Andrew, Peter Thiel, Steve Bannon, and Bill Gates, showing planned meetings or trips linked to Epstein. Prince Andrew appears in flight manifests dating back to May 2000, coinciding with his US visits, though there is no evidence of illegal activity in the files.
The Oversight Committee stressed that the documents are partially redacted to protect victims and ongoing investigations. Democrats say the release provides “new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.”

Prince Andrew and Epstein Flight Records
The newly released documents list Prince Andrew as a passenger on Jeffrey Epstein’s jet from Teterboro, New Jersey, to Palm Beach, Florida, on 12 May 2000. Also aboard were Epstein, his then-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell—now a convicted sex trafficker—and two redacted individuals. The flight coincides with entries in Epstein’s ledger referencing payments for massages, yoga, and exercise for an “Andrew,” which may point to financial transactions tied to the prince. Prince Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing and settled a US lawsuit in 2022 brought by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s prominent accusers, who alleged he sexually abused her as a teenager. While the records show potential interactions with Epstein, it is not confirmed whether any misconduct occurred during these trips, and the Oversight Committee is continuing its review.
Context and Background
Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting federal sex trafficking trial, maintained connections with some of the world’s wealthiest figures. Musk and others referenced in the documents had interactions that preceded Epstein’s 2019 indictment but followed his 2008 state-level convictions.
While the files show potential meetings, there is no evidence that Musk, Thiel, Bannon, or Gates were aware of Epstein’s criminal activities. Musk reiterated on social media that reports suggesting closeness to Epstein are false.
The Oversight Committee continues its review and urged the Justice Department to release additional documents related to Epstein.
