A blockbuster release
Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl arrived on October 3, instantly becoming Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2025 so far. The 12-track project marks Swift’s first new studio album since The Tortured Poets Department and her Eras stadium tour.
Swift herself described the record as “dramatic, sweeping, [and] epic,” telling Amazon Music in a track-by-track feature: “Each song feels like its own kind of movie.”
50 Cent joins the Taylor club
One lyric in particular caught fans’ attention — and 50 Cent’s. On “Ruin the Friendship,” Swift sings, “And it was not an invitation / But as the 50 Cent song played / Should’ve kissed you anyway.”
The rapper wasted no time celebrating the mention, posting the album’s cover art on Instagram. “@taylorswift s–t is popping right now. She shout me out, she don’t shout you out. LOL,” he wrote. “THIS IS FOR BIG TIMERS ONLY! I’m the only shout out on the whole album.”
50 Cent now joins a short list of artists name-checked by Swift in her music, from Janet Jackson on Midnights to Charlie Puth on The Tortured Poets Department.

Nicki Minaj cosigns the album
Swift’s release is also earning praise from other major stars. Nicki Minaj gushed about the project on X, writing: “The writing is always so intentional & always resonates with the AUTHENTIC lone wolves. GO IN FOR THE KILL, TAYLOR.”
Vinyl variants and visuals
As part of her rollout, Swift unveiled five alternate vinyl covers — with editions like The Shiny Bug, Baby, That’s Show Business, and Tiny Bubbles In Champagne — photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. A Target-exclusive “Crowd Is Your King” edition in Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer vinyl was revealed just days before release.
What’s next
With a historic streaming debut and high-profile co-signs from both hip-hop and pop royalty, The Life of a Showgirl has cemented itself as one of the most anticipated and impactful albums of the year. Fans are already speculating about a surprise tour or deluxe edition.
