At least 72 people were killed today in Israeli attacks on Gaza, with the majority of casualties reported in Gaza City. The latest escalation comes as Israel intensifies its military operations despite growing calls for restraint.
Strike in Qatar sparks outrage
Global condemnation erupted after Israel launched an attack targeting Hamas’s senior leadership in Doha, the Qatari capital. India, France, Russia, and other nations swiftly denounced the strike.
Qatar’s Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, described the assault as “cowardly” and accused Israel of “bullying.” He confirmed that Qatar is now forming a “collective response” with international partners, adding that the U.S. gave no warning ahead of the strike.
Netanyahu pressures Qatar
Before the Doha strike, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had publicly called on Qatar to expel the Hamas delegation from its territory. His remarks were widely seen as a threat of further military action if Qatar refused.
Airstrikes extend to Yemen
Israeli warplanes also carried out bombings in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and other parts of the country. Yemen’s Ministry of Health reported at least 35 deaths from the attacks.
UN and rights groups warn of catastrophe
International alarm is growing over Israel’s forced evacuation order demanding that one million people leave Gaza City for a so-called humanitarian zone in the south. Several UN agencies and human rights groups, including Amnesty International, warned that the designated areas lack the infrastructure and basic services to support such a massive displacement.
