Mexico’s Fátima Bosch Fernández has won Miss Universe 2025, standing out among more than 100 contestants. The 25-year-old from Villahermosa, Tabasco, brings the crown home five years after Andrea Meza’s 2020 victory. Thailand’s Praveenar Singh finished as first runner-up, while Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali, the Philippines’ Ahtisa Manalo, and Ivory Coast’s Olivia Yacé completed the Top 5.
Advocate for Compassion and Sustainability
Bosch is known for her empathy toward animals and her commitment to sustainable fashion, transforming discarded materials into wearable art. Diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, and hyperactivity, she turned these challenges into a platform for neurodiversity advocacy. She studied Fashion and Apparel Design at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and further refined her craft at Milan’s NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti.
Overcoming Controversy
The 2025 pageant in Thailand, featuring 120 countries, was not without drama. Bosch was publicly criticized by Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil during a live-streamed pre-pageant meeting, prompting a walkout by contestants in solidarity. The incident drew global backlash, with Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum praising Bosch for handling it with “dignity.” The Miss Universe Organization condemned the behavior and limited Nawat’s role.
A Journey to the Crown
Over three weeks, contestants participated in national costume showcases, swimwear, and evening gown rounds. Bosch advanced through the Top 30, Top 12, and Top 5, impressing judges with her live interview. Asked how she would use the Miss Universe platform, she said: “Believe in the power of your authenticity. Your dreams matter, your heart matters. Never let anyone make you doubt your worth.”
Historic Representation
The pageant also celebrated milestones, including Nadeen Ayoub, the first woman to represent Palestine, who reached the Top 30. The finale was hosted by American comedian Steve Byrne and featured a performance by Thai singer Jeff Satur, highlighting Thailand’s vibrant pageant culture.
