His comments came during an interview with CNN correspondent Donie O’Sullivan for the upcoming documentary MisinfoNation: White Genocide.
What sparked the controversial remarks?
During the conversation, O’Sullivan told Musk that demographic projections show the U.S. is on track to become a minority-white country for the first time in its history. Musk quickly rejected the idea as dangerous, saying, “Well, that will be a very, very bad thing to happen.”
He then questioned why anyone would want that outcome for America. “You want to see the U.S. go down? Why? You don’t like cars or electric cars? You don’t like technology? You want to go back to the jungle?” he said.
When asked directly whether he believed the U.S. would be “doomed” if whites become a minority, Musk answered, “Yes.”
Comments on South Africa fuel stronger criticism
Musk also drew comparisons to South Africa, where he argued that the white minority “projects European culture.” O’Sullivan challenged him, noting the decades of systemic oppression Black South Africans faced under apartheid.
Musk dismissed the point entirely. “No! How do you oppress? We gave them work, we fed them. They grew from a tiny little group into a massive group. That’s not oppression, that’s feeding them!” he said. “You only grow big if you get fed.”
The exchange immediately triggered criticism online, with many accusing Musk of rewriting history and downplaying apartheid’s brutality.
