DOJO – Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, says she prayed she was pregnant with her late husband’s child after he was assassinated earlier this fall. The 36-year-old shared the emotional revelation during an interview with Megyn Kelly on SiriusXM, where she reflected on grief, motherhood, and her family’s future. Her comments about hoping for a pregnancy have drawn attention online, as many sympathize with the tragedy she and her young children continue to navigate. The Erika Kirk pregnancy prayer moment was one of the most emotional parts of the discussion.
What Erika Kirk said about wanting another baby
Erika explained that she and Charlie hoped to expand their family and dreamed of having four children together. After his death, she said she prayed she might still be carrying their next baby.
“I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered,” she told Kelly. “That would be the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.”
She later confirmed she is not pregnant. The couple shared a 3-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son.
Kelly responded, “Thank God you have the two,” acknowledging the difficulty of navigating motherhood after such a devastating loss.
Her message to young women about children
The Erika Kirk pregnancy prayer story led her to speak more broadly about family planning. She encouraged young women who want children not to delay the decision.
“You can always have a career. You can always go back to work,” she said. “You can never just go back to having children.”
She added that she now urges young couples not to postpone having kids if it’s something they truly want.
Life after Charlie Kirk’s assassination
Charlie Kirk, 31, was assassinated on September 10 while speaking with students at Utah Valley University. His death shocked the political world and left Erika with two toddlers to raise while stepping into new leadership responsibilities at Turning Point USA following his passing.
Erika said she and Charlie were deeply excited about growing their family. Although her Erika Kirk pregnancy prayer was unanswered, she believes her two children are her greatest source of strength as she moves forward.
