COLORADO, USA — James Craig has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the chilling and premeditated murder of his wife, Angela Craig, the mother of their six children.
A calculated killing
Prosecutors revealed that the 47-year-old dentist secretly poisoned Angela by lacing her protein shakes with arsenic. As her condition deteriorated and she lay hospitalized, he delivered a final dose of cyanide — ensuring her death.
An investigation later revealed that Craig had been having an affair and had searched Google for disturbing phrases like “how to make murder look like a heart attack” and “is arsenic detectable in an autopsy?”
Despite telling doctors Angela had mental health struggles, the jury rejected his claims and found him guilty of first-degree murder and multiple felonies.
Twisted cover-up attempts
Craig’s deceit didn’t stop with the poisoning. While behind bars, he allegedly tried to convince a fellow inmate to murder the lead detective in the case. He even asked his own daughter to help fabricate a deepfake suicide video to shift blame.
Angela had been to the hospital three times in March 2023, each visit leaving doctors more puzzled. It wasn’t until her final admission that she was declared brain-dead. An autopsy revealed a deadly combination of cyanide, arsenic, and tetrahydrozoline — the latter a chemical found in eye drops.

Family speaks out in court
During sentencing, Craig’s daughter, Miriam Meservy, fought through tears:
“I was supposed to be able to trust my dad. He was supposed to be my hero, and instead he’ll forever be the villain in my book.”
Judge Shay Whitaker delivered the harshest possible sentence: life without parole, plus 33 additional years for attempted solicitation of murder and tampering with evidence.
“You are a tornado of destruction,” the judge declared in court.
Angela’s family stood firm, reminding the world of her love and character.
“She would never leave her kids,” said her sister. “We knew she didn’t take her own life. We fought for justice — and we got it.”
