CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn – A tragic mass shooting erupted early Sunday morning at the Taste of the City Lounge on 903 Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, leaving three men dead and nine others injured, authorities reported.
What Happened?
NYPD officials said multiple shooters, believed to be gang-related, opened fire inside the crowded lounge shortly before 3:30 a.m. Witnesses described chaos as patrons ran for cover. Police recovered at least 42 shell casings from multiple firearms at the scene, and one gun was later found near Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway.
The deceased were identified as 19-year-old Marvin St. Louis, 27-year-old Amadou Diallo, and 35-year-old Jamel Childs. The injured include nine men and three women, ranging in age from 19 to 61, all treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation Underway
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed that up to four shooters were involved. No arrests have been made, and investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and collecting witness statements. Authorities described the shooting as stemming from a dispute between groups inside the lounge.
Mayor Urges Witnesses to Come Forward
Mayor Eric Adams called on anyone with information to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers. “Every piece of information will allow us to put the puzzle together to solve this crime,” Adams said. He also emphasized concerns about gang retaliation following such incidents.

Taste of the City Lounge issued a statement highlighting the safety of guests as its top priority and confirmed cooperation with law enforcement. This marks the second deadly shooting near the lounge in less than a year, raising concerns about public safety in the rapidly gentrifying area.

Tisch noted that roughly 60% of shootings in New York City are gang-related. The city has removed over 2,000 illegal guns this year, yet incidents continue. Nationally, the U.S. has experienced more than 270 mass shootings so far in 2025, averaging more than one per day, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
