Deadly Attack Rocks Bondi Beach
At around 18:47 local time on Sunday, New South Wales Police received reports of gunfire at Bondi Beach in Sydney. Two men opened fire at a Hanukkah celebration, killing 15 people, including a 10-year-old girl, and wounding 40 others.
Father and Son Identified as Suspects
Police identified the attackers as a 50-year-old father, killed at the scene, and his 24-year-old son, critically injured in hospital. The pair legally owned multiple firearms for recreational hunting. Authorities quickly declared the shooting a terrorist attack targeting Jewish Australians.
Civilians Display Heroism
Witnesses filmed terrifying footage of the attack. Ahmed Al Ahmed, a local fruit seller, tackled one shooter and disarmed him, saving lives. Police later captured the second gunman. Several victims included Holocaust survivors and community leaders.
