Rapper Wiz Khalifa is once again showing his longtime connection to combat sports after recently posting footage of himself sparring with renowned striking coach Sixgungibson.
Khalifa shared clips from the training session on Instagram alongside the caption, “6,000 ft up and still puttin in work,” referencing both the high-altitude setting and his well-known marijuana lifestyle.
But beyond the jokes and social media reactions, the session also reminded many fans that Khalifa has actually been training martial arts seriously for years.
Wiz Khalifa Has Been Training MMA For Years
While some fans may see the sparring footage as celebrity content, Khalifa’s martial arts background goes much deeper than a random workout session.
The rapper has openly discussed training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and MMA conditioning for several years dating back to the late 2010s.
In previous interviews, Khalifa explained that he originally got into martial arts because his cousins constantly beat him up growing up. According to Khalifa, eventually he got tired of “getting my ass whooped” and decided to properly learn how to fight.
That journey eventually led him to train under respected coaches at Unbreakable Performance Center in Los Angeles.
From Jiu-Jitsu To Striking
Khalifa previously revealed that he first explored Brazilian jiu-jitsu under legendary instructor Rigan Machado before later falling in love with striking and Muay Thai training.
Over the years, videos of Khalifa hitting pads, sparring and training alongside professional fighters have regularly circulated online.
His latest work with Sixgungibson appears to be another example of that ongoing dedication.
Could Wiz Khalifa Ever Fight in MMA match?
Interestingly, Khalifa has never completely ruled out stepping into combat sports competition one day.
Back in 2021, Khalifa said he would potentially be open to competing in MMA if the opportunity felt right and made sense for everyone involved.
The rapper is also connected to the Professional Fighters League (PFL) as an investor and longtime supporter of MMA culture.
Even if a professional fight never happens, Khalifa’s consistency in training has earned respect from many combat sports fans online.
Fans React To Wiz Khalifa’s Sparring Footage
The newest sparring clips quickly generated attention across social media, with many fans surprised by Khalifa’s movement, striking mechanics and overall comfort during exchanges.
While he is obviously known globally for music first, the latest footage continues to show that martial arts has become a serious part of Khalifa’s lifestyle over the years.
For now, Wiz Khalifa appears focused on staying active, training hard and continuing to sharpen his skills whenever possible.
