Nasir Worthy is starting to gain attention in the amateur MMA world after capturing the Tuff-N-Uff amateur welterweight championship in Las Vegas.
Competing under the nickname “Escalade,” Worthy secured the title on April 24 at Tuff-N-Uff 153 with a first-round rear-naked choke victory over Nick Tarabochia.
The event aired on UFC Fight Pass and marked one of the biggest wins of Worthy’s amateur career so far.

What makes Worthy’s rise stand out is the life he manages outside the cage.
Just weeks before winning the Tuff-N-Uff title, Worthy posted on Instagram about balancing life as a full-time student, employee and fighter while trying to find time for himself.
“Being a full-time student, employee, and athlete leaves little time for much else,” Worthy wrote. “In a busy life, remember: TIME is your most precious commodity!”
The post quickly connected with many younger fighters trying to chase MMA dreams while managing school, work and everyday responsibilities.

Worthy is a 22-year-old amateur welterweight fighter out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He trains with Xtreme Couture, one of the most respected MMA gyms in the sport, and currently holds an 8-7 amateur record.
Despite the uneven record, Worthy has continued improving through active competition across multiple regional promotions including Tuff-N-Uff, Fusion Fight League and Rage in the Cage.
Several of his victories have come by stoppage, including submissions and TKO wins.

Worthy has now won four of his last six amateur fights, including victories over Travis Harris, Joey Lodine and Nick Tarabochia.
His championship victory at Tuff-N-Uff 153 may also be the biggest momentum shift of his career so far.
