Montenegrin judo will continue under familiar leadership after Jovica Rečević was unanimously re-elected President of the Judo Federation of Montenegro during the federation’s General Assembly in Podgorica.
All 43 delegates were present and voted in full support of Rečević, granting him another four-year mandate to guide the federation through the upcoming Olympic cycle.
Speaking following the vote, Rečević described the result as both an honour and a responsibility.
“It is a great honour, but also a serious obligation, to be elected President of the Judo Federation of Montenegro again,” he said. “I am thankful for the confidence shown by all delegates. I see this mandate not only as recognition for the work completed so far, but as an opportunity to continue building the Montenegrin judo family together with our clubs and athletes.”
Major Events on the 2026 Calendar
Montenegro is preparing for a busy 2026, with several major European competitions scheduled on home soil.
The calendar includes:
- A Senior European Cup on 7–8 March
- A Junior European Cup in October
- The European Junior Championships in Podgorica from 3–6 September
The year will conclude with another high-profile event, as Montenegro hosts the Congress of the European Judo Federation in Budva this December. The selection of Montenegro as host for multiple continental events reflects growing confidence in the federation’s organisational standards.
Board of Directors Confirmed
During the Assembly, delegates also elected members of the Board of Directors for the new mandate:
- Marinko Jovović – Vice President and Board Member
- Željko Dragojević – Board Member
- Luka Jokić – Board Member
- Jovana Peković – Board Member
In addition, the Assembly adopted the 2025 work report and approved the previous year’s financial statements, concluding the formal proceedings.
With a unified mandate and a packed international schedule ahead, Montenegrin judo enters the next Olympic cycle with stability at the helm and significant continental responsibility on its calendar.
