MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — Construction crews have started building Jamaica’s first Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The project, located along Montego Bay’s coastline, will significantly transform the island’s luxury tourism sector.
DOJO recently captured an exclusive photo of the site during a drive-by. The concrete structure is beginning to rise. Although the project is still in its early stages, the development matches descriptions of the multi-billion-dollar investment announced earlier this year by PAM Hotels.
A Billion-Dollar Tourism Boost for Montego Bay
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Jamaica is part of a larger plan by PAM Hotels. It also includes the UNICO 18°77° Hotel Jamaica and the planned AVA Resort Jamaica. Importantly, these three developments share a large beachfront property in Montego Bay, St James.
Together, these projects will likely exceed US$1 billion in value. They are expected to create over 4,000 construction jobs and about 5,000 permanent positions after opening. Consequently, this investment highlights Jamaica’s appeal as a world-class tourism destination.
Government Support and Vision
The Jamaican Government strongly supports the developments. For example, Prime Minister Andrew Holness welcomed the investment. He called it “a vote of confidence in our business environment, economic predictability, and unique value proposition.”
