Donald Trump welcomed some of the UFC’s biggest stars to the Oval Office this week as plans continue taking shape for the highly anticipated UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House on June 14.
The meeting featured fighters including Justin Gaethje, Alex Pereira, Ilia Topuria, and Ciryl Gane standing alongside Trump inside one of the most recognizable rooms in the world.
What followed felt less like a traditional political appearance and more like a celebration of combat sports culture entering a completely different level of visibility.
“This will be the greatest show on earth,” Trump said while presenting early visuals for the event.

According to Trump, UFC Freedom 250 will take place outdoors directly in front of the White House with approximately 4,000 seats surrounding the setup. Massive viewing screens are also expected to be placed nearby for large public crowds.
The June 14 date is symbolic for multiple reasons. It falls on Flag Day in the United States and also coincides with Trump’s 80th birthday.

Trump Praises UFC Fighters as “Real Warriors”
Throughout the appearance, Trump repeatedly praised the fighters standing behind him, calling them the toughest athletes in sports.
“These are real warriors,” Trump said during the Oval Office gathering.
He specifically pointed to Pereira’s knockout power, Topuria’s toughness, and Gaethje’s relentless fighting style while discussing the personalities attached to the event.
Trump also reflected on UFC’s early years, recalling how difficult it once was for the promotion to secure venues because of criticism surrounding the sport’s violence.
Justin Gaethje Credits Trump for UFC’s Early Growth
One of the strongest moments during the appearance came when Gaethje spoke directly to Trump about UFC’s rise.
The former interim lightweight champion said Trump played a major role in helping the promotion gain legitimacy during its early struggles in the 1990s.
“We’d be 10 years behind if it wasn’t for you,” Gaethje told the president.
Gaethje also described MMA as one of the purest merit-based systems in sports, saying fighters often come from difficult backgrounds and earn opportunities through discipline and sacrifice rather than status or wealth.
Fighters From Around the World Expected to Compete
The event is expected to feature athletes from multiple countries including the United States, Brazil, France, Georgia, and Canada.
Several fighters described the opportunity to compete at the White House as something they never imagined experiencing during their careers.
For many fans, the visual alone is surreal: world champions walking through the Oval Office before fighting under the lights outside the White House weeks later.
Trump Says Fighters Pushed for Spots on the Card
Trump also revealed that Dana White visited the White House the night before the meeting as discussions continued around the Freedom 250 lineup.
According to Trump, many fighters pushed for a chance to compete on the historic card because of the event’s scale and visibility.
“They all said we want to fight at the White House,” Trump and Justin Gaethje said before joking that some fighters “cried” after not making the lineup.
Whether fans love the idea or hate it, Freedom 250 is already shaping up to be one of the strangest and most unique combat sports events ever attempted.
And with the UFC now connected to a White House fight card, MMA may be entering another completely different era.
