The African Taekwondo Union has officially released the list of athletes qualified for the 2026 African Kyorugi Championships in Rabat, Morocco.
Qualification was determined through the African Open Series (AOS) 1–2–3–4–5–6 system. The federation also confirmed the administrative rules governing these places.
All quotas earned through the AOS pathway are nominative, non-transferable, and do not allow division changes under any circumstances.
What Are the Rules for Nominative Quotas?
The AFTU clarified that qualification spots belong strictly to the athlete who earned them. They cannot be transferred to another competitor.
Athletes also cannot change weight divisions after qualification.
National federations must confirm participation before January 31, 2026, by email to the Presidency of the Technical Commission at:
If a federation fails to confirm a place, the vacancy will be reassigned to the next eligible athlete in the same category from another country according to qualification criteria.
What Is the Global Athlete License Requirement?
The AFTU reminded National Member Associations that all qualified athletes must hold a valid Global Athlete License (GAL).
Federations are responsible for ensuring official registration for the continental championship.
Without a valid GAL, athletes cannot compete.

In addition to nominative quotas earned through the African Open Series, federations retain the right to register a full team of up to eight men and eight women for the 2026 African Kyorugi Championships.

Where Will the 2026 African Championships Be Held?
The 2026 African Championships will take place in Dakar, Senegal, on June 5 and 6 at the Dakar Arena.
It will be the first time Dakar hosts the event since 2001.
The venue has a capacity of 15,000 spectators and has previously hosted major continental competitions.
The event is expected to be supervised under the authority of World Taekwondo.
